I’m an Assistant Professor at Flagler College, where I teach courses on visual culture, aesthetics and society, and the First Year Seminar. I also serve as an Assistant Director of the Flagler College Honors Program.

I hold a PhD in Philosophy of Education from Loyola University Chicago, with specialization in aesthetics for environmental education. My research and teaching interests include art theory and interpretation, visual culture, and art education. Most recently, I’ve written on aesthetics of misinformation and art-based approaches to media literacy.

My writing can be found in Studies in Art Education, The Journal of Aesthetic Education, Educational Theory, and Ethics and Education.

In recognition of my writing and research, I’m the recipient of the Educational Theory and Philosophy of Education Society Outstanding Paper Award (2024) and a Culture and Animals Foundation Grant (2022).

I earned an MA in the Humanities from the University of Chicago and graduated summa cum laude with a BA in English from Texas State University. I was born and raised in Fort Worth, TX, lived in Chicago for many years and other towns in the midwest. I now reside in Saint Augustine, FL.
